TRIP OVERVIEW:

• Experience an exciting three-day safari and observe a multitude of flora and fauna within the Corbett Tiger Reserve with the guidance of seasoned naturalists.

• Your tour includes a 4WD on forest tracks, bird viewing, and a close view of indigenous wildlife and a 2-hr elephant ride!

• Spend 2-nights in the historical Sarpduli forest bungalow inside the Tiger Reserve, 2-nights in the THO western Ramganga River Lodge where you will enjoy panoramic views overlooking the game-rich valley, and one night in India’s award winning eco-lodge, Camp Forktail Creek.

• Witness breathtaking views of the greater Himalayas along with a village hike where you will visit village schools and make a wish at an ancient temple.

• Interact with the indigenous people of local villages, and witness ancient practices of sustainability in this land.

Day By Day:

Day One (1) Welcome to India!

• Arrive in Delhi and meet your THO escort from the airport itself.

• Then head to one of our favorite Bed & Breakfasts and meet your warm and knowledgeable hosts, Arun and Bani. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal and captivating conversation with your B&B hosts, before getting a comfortable and well-deserved night’s sleep.

• After feasting on a wonderful breakfast, your THO guide will accompany you as you begin your drive to our Western Ramganga River lodge.

• Take a break from the 7-hour drive to eat at one of the best local restaurants en-route before reaching our remote and pristine lodge.

Day two (2) New Delhi to the Corbett Tiger Reserve…

• The Lodge is situated less than a 6th of a mile from the road, and will give you the opportunity to see local villages while THO staff portage your luggage.

• After settling into your river-front cottage and sipping on some coffee or tea, enjoy a short bush-walk in the surrounding area with a local naturalist.

• End the evening around the bonfire with appetizers and enjoy a traditional Tandoori Indian dinner in our dining thatch

• Finally retire to your cottage and enjoy the comfort of our classic rosewood campaign-style beds.

Day three (3) Drive & Hike (The Temple Trail & Himalayan Views)

• Rise and shine and prepare for an exciting day of adventure! Join the The Himalayan Outback staff, with a packed breakfast and lunch in tote, to the road-head to begin your one and a half hour drive to view Himalayas renowned snow capped peaks.
  

  Feeling the light within...

• After arriving at the starting point of the ancient temple trail of Gujrukoth; feast your eyes with views of majestic Himalayas as you climb up to the temple. This ancient temple plays an important role in the lives of the people of this region.

• Continue this day of cultural and ecological exploration during a special village walk through a mixed forest of teak, oak and rhododendron (in full bloom during March and April). You will have the opportunity to learn more about the people and their sustainable living lifestyle, visit the local school, and interact with the people of this region.

• Finally, journey to India’s award winning eco-lodge Camp Forktail Creek, and meet you experienced hosts, Minakshi & Ritish for a delicious dinner and a pleasant night’s rest.

Day four (4) Overnight Safari (Dhikala & Sarapduli Range)

• Begin your exciting day early as your hosts prepare you for an overnight excursion into one of the most game-rich parts of the Jim Corbett tiger reserve; the Dhikala zone.

• Along side your experienced guide, witness this unique and carefully managed preserve while exploring the Gharial pool, Champion pool on Champion road and high bank; each one of them, great observation points on the western Ramganga River. As you overlook this grand panorama from your safari vehicle, your guide will point out the various aquatic-life in the crystal clear Ramganga River. Wildlife sightings may include river otters, Gharials or fish eating crocodile, the Asiatic elephant, various types of deer, fish species including the Golden Mahseer as well as other indigenous wildlife and birds that make their way to these points for a drink of water. Of course one of the most exciting sightings is the regal Bengal Tiger! Your guide will constantly be in tracking mode to try to make this possible!

• Continue your search for tiger while driving through the Dhikala chaur –  grasslands, observe the varied bird and wildlife species found in the area as you are enjoying your guide’s in-depth knowledge of this vibrant eco-system.

• After an exhilarating day of wildlife encounters return to the historical Sarpduli forest guesthouse in heart of the reserve, made in the early 1900′s. Enjoy the company of your world-class hosts as you are pampered and settled for the night in this exclusive location.

Day five (5) Overnight Safari (Dhikala & Sarapduli Range)

• Taking advantage of being in the heart of the tiger reserve, your seasoned guides will have you up early for the safari soon after coffee and tea.

• You will be returning to the Sarpduli forest guesthouse for breakfast and lunch; enjoying the rest of the day viewing wildlife from your 4WD safari vehicle and from elephant back.

• Return to your charming and secluded guesthouse as the sun disappears behind the grasslands. Enjoy a relaxing evening after a satisfying day in the forest reflecting on the fun-filled day’s events as you are pampered with appetizers by your attentive hosts.

Day six (6) Safari (Dhikala & Sarapduli Range)

• An early start for another exciting day of game viewing in Dhikala. Viewing would be split on elephant back
  

  An Alarmed Sambar...

  (subject to availability, as it can not be booked in advance) and game drives.

• Spend the day exploring different areas of the park viewing the interesting flora and fauna in your 4WD with your guide.

• Return to the THO western Ramganga River lodge by the evening and enjoy a warm and scrumptious dinner.

Day seven (7) Depart for New Delhi

• Say goodbye to your hosts and begin your escorted journey back to Delhi.

• Depart the following day. You will escorted back to the airport by one of the Himalayan Outback’s representatives. The check-out time of the B&B is 1200hrs
