The TAJ MAHAL, one of the seven wonders of the world, is on the top of the “bucket list” of anyone visiting India. This spectacular monument, made of white marble, meticulously by thousands of skilled craftsmen was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Agra is a a few hours south of New Delhi and is well connected by road, rail and air.
A visit to Agra will not only enable you to see the beautiful Taj Mahal, but also the the famous Agra Fort and the neighbouring city of Fatehpur Sikri – both architectural wonders in their own right.
Fatehpur Sikri was built by the emperor Akbar as his capital but eventually had to be abandoned due to the lack of water.
Agra Fort was from where the Mughal Emperors ruled India until they shifted their capital to the Red Fort in Delhi.
