Overview:
A 12 day fully escorted trip that takes you down the Saryu River to the
confluence of the Saryu & Mahakali rivers for an unforgettable Golden Mahseer fishing trip. The goal is to target the mighty Mahseer as it goes upriver to spawn before the torrential monsoon sets in and again in the post monsoon when this beautiful fish migrates down the Saryu River and into the Mahakali River. The Himalayan Outback has been arranging these float trips since 2004.
Our team of guides are the best in the business and understand the habits of the Mahseer and the best locations for targeting this “tiger of the freshwater”. The Himalayan Outback’s world class service awaits you at our fishing camp on the Saryu River. Our chefs will surprise you every day with their variety of cuisines served in a beautiful setting in the wilderness.
Brief Itinerary of your 12 Day Mahseer Float trip
- DAY 1: You will be met at Delhi airport & escorted to your hotel.
- DAY 2: Early morning flight from Delhi to Pantnagar. Drive 5 !/2 hours to our fishing camp at Pancheshwar.
- DAYS 3 & 4: Enjoy 2 full days of fishing along the Saryu River.
- DAY 5: Early morning drive (3 hours) to Ghat. Raft down to Talla Netra. Fishing all day. Night at our fishing camp at Talla Netra
- DAYS 6 & 7: Two full days of fishing at Talla Netra. Night at our fishing camp at Talla Netra.
- DAY 8: Raft down the Saryu River to The Himalayan Outback fishing camp at Pancheshwar. Fishing all day
- DAY 9-10 : Spend the 2 days at The Himalayan Outback camp fishing for Mahseer in Pancheshwar
- DAY 11: Drive to Pantnagar (5 1/2 hours) and take the flight to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, transfer to your hotel.
- DAY 12 : Check out from your hotel and transfer to Delhi airport for your flight back home.

Day 1
On your arrival at New Delhi International Airport you will be met just outside the “Arrival” area by a chauffeur of Roseate House hotel. The chauffeur will have a placard with your name clearly mentioned. You will be driven from the airport to the Roseate House hotel which is located about 3 kms (2 miles) away and will be just a short 5 minute drive. Please note that Check-In is at 2 pm – early check in may or may not be possible without additional payment. Get a good night’s rest after your long flight and get ready for your Himalayan adventure.

Day 2
After an early breakfast the concierge will arrange your transfer to the airport. Your flight from Delhi will bring you to the town of Pantnagar. You will be met at the airport by the staff of The Himalayan Outback. Pantnagar is based at the foothills of the lower Himalayan ranges in the state of Uttarakhand
This town is home to the first agricultural university of India & this area is well known for its farms which have been reclaimed from the
jungles of the Terrai.
From the airport our vehicles will take you to our fishing camp at Pancheshwar. You will be driving past Tanakpur, a border town on the Mahakali River, across which is Nepal.
From Tanakpur the drive begins uphill until finally the road descends down to the valley where the Saryu River flows at Pancheshwar, our destination. On your arrival enjoy a welcome drink while the camp manager will give an introductory briefing about the facility, the staff etc. in order to make your stay hassle free. Each evening your fishing guides will discuss the plans/logistics for the next day’s fishing.

Day 3 & 4
After breakfast our fishing guides will ask you to bring out your
entire fishing gear. Guests will be introduced to their guides, who will be accompanying the guests throughout their stay. They will then suggest the right combination of rod, reel & line depending on the condition of the river and the weather. Lures/flies will be selected for the day’s fishing. Each guest
will be briefed on the section of river and the suggested time that they will be fishing. Our guides will be happy to accommodate those interested in fishing longer hours.
Everyday you will wake up to the cacophony of birds – Pancheshwar has a large variety of birds and a great place for those who are interested in bird life. Our resident birding expert will be happy to accompany any interested guest on a walk to spot various birds. After a full day of fishing you can relax
around the bonfire (depending on the weather) followed by dinner.
Our chefs will be serving you with a range of cuisines during your stay – Indian, Continental, Italian & Chinese. If you are averse or allergic to any food, please do let us know in advance. Also inform us if you have a medical condition that we need to be aware of.

Day 5
After an early breakfast we will drive 3 hours to Ghat, located
upstream from Pancheshwar on the Saryu River. At Ghat The Himalayan
Outback river team will be waiting with our rafts. We will raft down the
Saryu River to Talla Netra.
Fishing all day.
A fishing camp will have been set up at this location and you will be staying
here for the next three nights. You will be fishing at this location with our
team of guides

Day 6 & 7
Two full days of fishing at Talla Netra.
Wake up to the sounds of birds and the river – nature, unspoiled and at its best! Our Head Guide will break the group up and assign fishing locations and guides to each. Enjoy fishing at this remote location. As the sun sets you can relax under the stars and around the bonfire. Our chef will lay out delicious meals in this beautiful surrounding.

Day 8

Raft down the Saryu River – as you go along you will be stopping at various points and fish. A packed lunch will be served along the way. Continue rafting to our main fishing camp at Pancheshwar.

Day 9 & 10
Pancheshwar is known as the Mecca for Mahseer fishing in
North India. The fishing camp is at a beautiful location – the immediate backdrop is a mountain covered with jungle. A variety of deer, monkeys, langurs and the occasional leopard may be spotted during your stay. Across the river the tree covered mountain rises.

Enjoy two full days of fishing, for the elusive Mahseer, at this picturesque location.
A beautiful village is located across the river from our fishing camp. We encourage our guests to join us for a walk to this beautiful village, view their lifestyle and interact with the villagers. It’s a delight for photographers. Each day you will continue to fish for the beautiful and hard fighting Mahseer,
“the tiger of the freshwater”.

Day 11
Early morning departure from the fishing camp. You will be driven to Pantnagar where you will board the flight to Delhi. At Delhi airport you will be outside the “Arrival” area by a chauffeur of Roseate House hotel. The chauffeur will have a placard with your name clearly mentioned. You will be driven from the airport to the Roseate House hotel which is located about 3 kms (2 miles) away and will be just a short 5 minute drive.
There is a small possibility that you may be unable to catch the flight from Pantnagar. In that case you will be driven to the Kathgodam Railway Station. From Kathgodam you will take the Shatabdi train (Executive Class), accompanied by one of our staff, to New Delhi Railway Station. On arrival at New Delhi you will be transferred to your hotel.

Please inform the concierge of your flight timings so that your transfer to the airport can be made at the appropriate time.
Please note that the check out from Roseate House is at 10 am – a late check out may be requested but would depend on availability.
